Hal Singer – Large Signed Original Floral Oil Painting on Canvas. Some frame imperfections noted.
Hal Singer, born 1919 in New York City, first started painting as a teen and later attended New York University and the Art Students League. In 1940 he enlisted in the military, serving in the Army Air Corps during World War II. Following the war Singer worked as a commercial artist and graphic arts photographer before devoting his life to painting full time in 1962. Working primarily in oil but also known for his watercolors, Singer’s subject matter included carousels, figures, landscapes, seascapes and coastal scenes painted in a style he referred to as soft focus realism. Singer lived most of his adult life in Pennsylvania and New Jersey where he established himself as a regional artist. He was represented in galleries throughout Pennsylvania and New Jersey as well as Florida, North Carolina, South Carolina, Washington D.C., and New York. Hal Singer died in 2003 at the age of 83.
